Winter Appeal- “Can it for a Cause”

Winter Appeal- “Can it for a Cause”

As winter is fast approaching, many of us can take for granted that we enjoy hot meals and a warm, comfy bed. Sadly, many within our community aren’t so fortunate. The work of our local St Vincent de Paul ensures many of the less fortunate are taken care of, especially during these long winter months.

St Joseph’s Prefect, Natasha Petroccitto, has launched her winter appeal - “Can it for a Cause”. As part of her Prefect Mercy Value of "Options for the Poor", Natasha is hoping to supply over 400 cans to our local SVDP organisation.  Natasha has put the call out to every child at the school to donate at least one can of food which can be heated and eaten as a meal.

As an added bonus to this year’s appeal, Natasha has also asked families to send in any recipes which use canned soups, baked beans etc. to compile a recipe book which will be given to St Vincent de Paul and distributed to clients with the food items.

Supporting the winter appeal enables staff and students to see our Mercy values in action through assisting the poor, showing compassion and ensuring justice to those in need.

Natasha would like to thank the many families who have already brought in cans for this very worthwhile cause. The response has been amazing.

St Joseph’s School appreciates the continued support and generosity of our families.
