From The Principal
Last week also saw four of our
students from Year 7 – Asbjorn Gaskell,
Alanah Biddulph, Alex Mattiazzi
and Megan Berlese attend the Kids’
Connect Conference in Toowoomba.
This Conference was an opportunity for
students from around the Diocese to
engage with some cutting edge digital
technology. It goes without saying that
our students gained much from the
experience. However, it was the way in
which they conducted themselves and
represented St Joseph’s School that
resonated with Mrs Mahoney and Miss
Thompson (the supervising teachers).
Sometimes we take for granted that we
have great students that always strive
to do the right thing and take pride
in their School. When we recognise
it, we should acknowledge it. Well
done students and my thanks to Mrs
Mahoney and Miss Thompson for their
generous contribution of time.
I also offer my congratulations to
Emma Boccari, Year 12 student and
St Joseph’s School Captain. Emma
won the Queensland Tourism Salute to
Excellence Award in Hospitality. This is a
very competitive award and Emma won
the award over a number of nominees
from across the State. Emma received
a scholarship to study a diploma at the
South Brisbane Institute of TAFE. Well
done Emma.
Last Sunday saw a group of parents
convene for the Term 3 Working Bee. This
was a very productive few hours which
concluded with the reorganisation
of classrooms and storage areas. We
were also able to identify items for
donation to the Stanthorpe Rotary Club
who will deliver these much needed
resources to classrooms in Fiji. While
I understand that the lives of parents
with young children are busy, I would
have appreciated the assistance of a few
more families on the day. The working
bees are consistently supported by a
regular group of families and it would
be great to see some new faces on these
weekends. It is a genuine community
building exercise and a fantastic way
for the members of our School family
to connect. So, don’t despair! You will
get another opportunity in the next
few weeks. I extend my gratitude to
those mums and dads who helped out
on Sunday. It couldn’t have been done
without you.
